Boston's North End Real Estate
Boston's North End has been the site of some very important American history and is the city's oldest residential neighborhood. Settlers came to North End in the 17th century, almost 200 years before many other Boston neighborhoods were settled. Amazingly, buildings and homes from that time stand today and are well-preserved, which is one of many reasons why people consider North End a desirable place to visit. Real estate in North End is highly sought by both potential residents and real estate investors.

An aerial view of North End shows a neighborhood that has been virtually frozen in time. While some areas of Boston have given way to shiny, contemporary skyscrapers, North End still has an old-world feel to it. Paul Revere made his famous ride through this neighborhood, in fact his house is also located in North End. Perhaps the area's proudest achievement, however, is when North End became the residential settlement for America's first emancipated slaves.
As noted, the North End is famous for its architecture. Although settlers came to the area in the 17th century, much of the neighborhood's architecture is from the 19th century, boasting a variety of styles from that era. North End homes and tenements are designed in the Gothic Revival, Federalist and Late Victorian styles. A few landmarks, however, date back even further. Such buildings include the aforementioned home of Paul Revere (1680), the Pierce-Hichborn House (1711) and the Old North Church (1723). All of these sites are tourist attractions and considered to be institutions of American history.
The area is home to a large Jewish and Italian community, although there is a very broad mix of ethnic cultures in the neighborhood. In fact, it is considered to be one of the most diverse areas in Boston. Many Bostonians will travel to the North End to dine in one of its many ethnic restaurants, most notably its famous Italian restaurants. The bakeries are also a popular draw among locals. With an atmosphere of tolerance and diversity, it is no wonder why the North End is such a popular place to live, shop and dine.
North End homes and condos
Real estate in the North End is in high demand among people from all economic backgrounds. In addition to the historic homes and tenements being coveted, the neighborhood is popular for its incredibly low crime rate. North End is, perhaps, the safest place to live in Boston. The proximity to local universities and places of work is also convenient. Cost of living in the area is a bit higher than some areas in Boston, but is a far cry from the upscale pricing in Beacon Hill. Instead, the North End serves as the perfect dwelling for the working, middle and upper class to live together in peace.
